Comments | Olive Mary Morse was a WAAF and posted to 158 Squadron in the meteorological branch. On September 14, 1943, she was taken as an “unofficial” passenger on a training flight aboard Halifax LW246 (NP-Z) that was participating in a fighter affiliation exercise. LW246 appears to have broken up in flight either as a result of over-stressing, or a lightning strike. The aircraft crashed at Mill Farm, Fordon, located near Filey, East Yorkshire. All of the seven crew and two passengers, including Olive Morris, were killed in the crash. Olive Morse was buried in All Saints Churchyard, Witham, Essex.
