Alexander (Alex) Grant was posted to 158 from 66 squadron in Cornwall where he had worked on Spitfires. In the autumn of 1943 during the run up to D-Day Alex was posted to 624 Special duties squadron in North Africa. He served the remainder of the war overseas with this squadron.
After the war he was a teacher in Middlesborough until retiring in 1988
